The contract, unanimously approved in a resolution at the Fredericksburg City Council's meeting Tuesday evening, will provide the city with trained animal control officers and extended services beginning Jan. 15. The city's last animal control officer resigned in August. Since then, police officers have had to respond to all calls regarding domestic animals.
